Our client, a well-established and growing financial services company, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to join a dynamic team in West Houston. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and optimizing a DB2 database environment while ensuring its seamless integration with Linux systems.


Position Overview:
As a DB2 Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance optimization of our DB2 database infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of the database systems running on Linux platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of DB2 database administration principles, coupled with hands-on experience in managing complex database environments.


Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, configure, and maintain DB2 database instances running on Linux operating systems.

• Design and implement database schema, tables, indexes, and other database objects.

• Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations in accordance with best practices.

• Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.

• Implement and maintain database security protocols, including user access controls and data encryption.

• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot database-related issues and provide technical support.

• Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and reference.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in database administration and Linux systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.

• Proven work experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with DB2 databases on Linux platforms, SQL Server is a plus.

• Strong understanding of database management principles, including database design, optimization, and performance tuning.

• Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, including system administration and shell scripting.

• Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization techniques.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator) are a plus.
