Job Detail: Process Engineer

Description:

Walker Elliott's client partner's continued growth has its Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Augusta, Georgia plants sourcing for Process Engineers. The engineer will assess chemical procedures and individual functions in order to enhance operational effectiveness, production quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Other Responsibilities

• Create and suggest upgrades to process designs for specific areas to ensure they are running efficiently and safely, while also meeting government regulations for air and water pollution control, resulting in a positive return on investment.

• Create and update Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Steam Balances, Standard Operating Procedures, Material Specifications, etc., to ensure the Project Engineering team has the necessary information to develop detailed specifications for cost estimation and construction.

• Offer support on a daily basis to Operations for resolving operating issues, as well as to Maintenance Engineering for improving equipment performance and addressing materials-related challenges.

• Evaluate all process plans and changes to identify potential safety concerns and necessary precautions.

• Conduct Hazard and Operability Studies (Hazops), Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA), Incident Investigations, and 'What If' analyses on both existing operations and planned modifications to plant equipment, processes, and systems using the plant's Process Safety Management of Change (MOC) procedures.

• Carefully observe current and past data from various sources such as log sheets, data historian, lab analysis, and walk-throughs to identify any irregularities and improve the overall efficiency of plant operations.

• Monitor closely the quality and handling of raw materials, process chemicals, catalysts, finished products, and water treatment processes.

• Provide training and assistance to Operations staff when required.

• Conduct inventory inspections at the end of each month, compile reports on lost items, and assess the reliability of the area.

REQUIREMENTS

• BS in Chemical Engineering or related degree

• 2+ years of experience in process technology in a chemical plant or refinery environment.

• Process modeling software

• Hands-on process engineering and root-cause analysis 

• Any asset maintenance and reliability experience is a plus
